IN 30 MINS FROM OUR CIDER FARM YOU CAN BE IN THE SEA OR ON THE FELLS STILL AN IMPRESSIVE BUILDING ABBEYTOWN CHURCH IS ONLY A FRACTION OF ITS ORIGINAL SIZE, MOST OF THE LARGE FARMS AND BUILDINGS IN THE SURROUNDING AREA WOULD HAVE AT ONE TIME BEEN CONNECTED WITH THE ABBEY OR BUILT USING RE-CLAMED STONE FROM THE RUINED PARTS !.
Now there are lots of other places to visit in this area, and even more natural free activities and walks, historically important sites and picturesque view points a plenty. The skill is to find and then combine all these activities together, as all are "off the beaten track" and not necessarily sign posted. Recently there have been some excellent new enterprises set up around the Solway Plain promoting and using local produce, it is easier than ever to sample a whole range culinary and craft produce.
